Margaret White


Margaret White, the fourth daughter of Thomas and Margaret White was born in May of 18481 in White Oak Springs.  She was married in about 1875 to Edwin A. Williams.She died sometime after June 4, 1930 when she appeared on the census rolls of Neenah, Wisconsin.3

Edwin A. Williams, born November 9, 1847, in Wisconsin was a graduate of Hillsdale College in Michigan and Platteville Wisconsin Normal School.  He was a teacher and principle in various school systems in Wisconsin.  He was the principal of Menasha High School from 1880-1882 after which he became the Superintendent of Menasha public schools.  In 1888 he left the field of education and entered the real estate and insurance business.  He was mayor of Neenah in 1894 following which he was the superintendent of schools for the city of Neenah.  A Republican, he was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1898 and 1900.4

Edwin and Margaret Williams had only one daughter, Mabel Williams, who was born in October of 18755.  Mabel Williams did not marry and worked as an insurance agent.6  She was also active in various organizations around the Neenah area such as the Womens Athletic Association7, the American Red Cross8, The YWCA,9 and the Eastern Star10.  She died in Penney Farms, Florida May 13, 195811 at the age of 83.  Mabel Williams was named in the settlement of the estate of Margaret White William's brother George in 1918.12
